Gustav Klimt
Klimt was an Austrian artist who was always open to fresh inspiration. His use of bright colors and
voluptuous figures made him a very controversial artist. His work was constantly criticized for being

Charles Sheeler
Sheeler, an American painter/photographer, became highly interested in the forms of the man-made environment
of machinery. He was so interested imitating photography that he never showed any expression in his brush
strokes. Anything live or organic, such as trees or people, was kept out of his art. His paintings seem to
hold a special appreciation for photographers and engineers alike.
