An on-air radio deejay (Dennis Miller) recounts his life story as a white-trash reject who, at age eight, was abandoned by his mean-spirited birth parents (Roseanne and Gary Busey) at the Grand Canyon. Years later, Joe Dirt attempts to seek out his birth parents and discover the mystery of why they dismissed him. Going from one misadventure to another, Joe's life unfolds on the radio show where his life story becomes a sensation to the locals.
